You need to know the difference between LCD and Plasma screens. Although they may look the same they are very different.  Plasma HDTVs are thought to be the best as far picture quality. Plasma HDTV’s do cost more than LCD TVs, but most electronics experts say that there is no comparison, when comes to the quality of picture you will get from the plasma.

When buying an HDTV you need to consider more than just how big of a screen you want. You want to really look at all of the HDTVs, to see which one has the best picture and fits your budget. Options and numbers can be really hard to sift through. Even the experts are confused when faced with all of this information. There are a few numbers and options that is very important to know, in your buying decision.

You do want to consider the contrast ratio when looking at the numbers. This refers to the brightest and darkest light values a HDTV can display and produce at once. You need to know that the higher the contrast ratio number, the better the picture quality will be.

Aspect ratio represents the screen width to screen height. Older model TVs have a 4:3 aspect ratio, while wide-screen TVs ratio is 16:9. All HDTVs are wide-screen. They usually display a better picture when watching DVDs, because most movies were filmed in a wider ratio.

As with a lot of thing size matters, to a degree. You have to consider the size of the room, where you plan to put the HDTV. You don’t want to buy a huge screen HDTV, for a very small room, this will create an unpleasant viewing experience. You also don’t want to buy a really small screen TV, for large room. This will cause you to have to squint, just to see the picture.

When considering buying an HDTV, be sure to do some research. Read reviews from experts and see what type of HDTV fit’s your needs, budget and home. Shop around to ensure that you getting the most for your money. HDTV’s can be a big investment, so take the time to get the facts.
